what is information technology?

Mia 'theam

what does it mean to apply information technology appropiately?

Answer
Information technology is pretty much anything having to do with computers, databases, and the Internet.

If you're applying information technology appropriately, it means you're doing your homework in terms of buying computers, software packages, network systems, database management software and hardware, and Internet access -- you don't want to buy too many computers, or spend extra money on computer features you don't need (why get high-end graphics cards in your computers if they're being used for your garden-variety business), and you don't want to invest in software packages you don't need either. For networks, you need a network system that isn't too big but isn't too small either -- and you may want to think about company growth when you set up your network.

Applying information technology appropriately also means you're using the tools at your disposal as effectively as possible to help run your business. This may involve training people on how to use certain programs/applications, or even developing your own software/systems to do whatever you need to do.

Wht is HT technology?

suma

what is htt technology in intel p4

Answer
HT technology stands for Hyper Threading technology. The advantages of Hyper-Threading are listed as: improved support for multi-threaded code, allowing multiple threads to run simultaneously, improved reaction and response time, and increased number of users a server can support.

According to Intel, the first implementation only used an additional 5% of the die area over the "normal" processor, yet yielded performance improvements of 15–30%.

Intel claims up to a 30% speed improvement compared against an otherwise identical, non-SMT Pentium 4. The performance improvement seen is very application-dependent, however, and some programs actually slow down slightly when HTT is turned on. This is due to the replay system of the Pentium 4 tying up valuable execution resources, thereby starving the other thread. However, any performance degradation is unique to the Pentium 4 (due to various architectural nuances), and is not characteristic of simultaneous multithreading in general.

Hyperthreading allows the operating system to see two logical processors rather than the one physical processor present

Hyper-Threading works by duplicating certain sections of the processor—those that store the architectural state—but not duplicating the main execution resources. This allows a Hyper-Threading equipped processor to pretend to be two "logical" processors to the host operating system, allowing the operating system to schedule two threads or processes simultaneously. Where execution resources in a non-Hyper-Threading capable processor are not used by the current task, and especially when the processor is stalled, a Hyper-Threading equipped processor may use those execution resources to execute the other scheduled task. (The processor may stall due to a cache miss, branch misprediction, or data dependency.)

Except for its performance implications, this innovation is transparent to operating systems and programs. All that is required to take advantage of Hyper-Threading is symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) support in the operating system, as the logical processors appear as standard separate processors.

However, it is possible to optimize operating system behaviour on Hyper-Threading capable systems, such as the Linux techniques discussed in Kernel Traffic. For example, consider an SMP system with two physical processors that are both Hyper-Threaded (for a total of four logical processors). If the operating system's process scheduler is unaware of Hyper-Threading, it would treat all four processors the same. As a result, if only two processes are eligible to run, it might choose to schedule those processes on the two logical processors that happen to belong to one of the physical processors. Thus, one CPU would be extremely busy while the other CPU would be completely idle, leading to poor overall performance. This problem can be avoided by improving the scheduler to treat logical processors differently from physical processors; in a sense, this is a limited form of the scheduler changes that are required for NUMA systems.

What is Information Technology?

Bridgette

I am applying for Tennessee Governor's School for Informational Technology Leadership. I am more interested in the Business Leadership aspect, but for my application it is asking ways information technology has helped businesses operate more effectively and asks to give concrete examples.

If you could please give me a summary of what Information technology is, and some examples of the way it has helped I will derive my own answers.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Information technology, as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." Encompassing the computer and information systems industries, information technology is the capability to electronically input, process, store, output, transmit, and receive data and information, including text, graphics, sound, and video, as well as the ability to control machines of all kinds electronically.

Information technology is comprised of computers, networks, satellite communications, robotics, videotext, cable television, electronic mail ("e-mail"), electronic games, and automated office equipment. The information industry consists of all computer, communications, and electronics-related organizations, including hardware, software, and services. Completing tasks using information technology results in rapid processing and information mobility, as well as improved reliability and integrity of processed information.

what is the history of information technology?

Answer
Information technology (IT), as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and retrieve information, securely.

Recently it has become popular[citation needed] to broaden the term to explicitly include the field of electronic communication so that people tend to use the abbreviation ICT (Information and Communications Technology), it is common for this to be referred to as IT & T in the Australasia region, standing for Information Technology and Telecommunications.

Today, the term information technology has ballooned to encompass many aspects of computing and technology, and the term is more recognizable than ever before. The information technology umbrella can be quite large, covering many fields. IT professionals perform a variety of duties that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. A few of the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management, networking, engineering computer hardware, database and software design, as well as the management and administration of entire systems.

technology?

Q. do you like the technology these days or is it getting out of hand??

Answer
depends on the technology. not all technologies are inherently evil, nor are all technologies good in every respect. while we say that technology makes our lives better, humans tend to be whiny no matter how good their lives are. additionally, if you don't know about an uncreated technology, you cant very well miss it to the point where you would complain about how hard your life is without it! 20 years ago, no one said "man, my life really sucks because i cant contact people on my portable telephone that can go with me anywhere i go."
personally i'd say the biggest concern with technology right now is the waste produced from it. Carbon dioxide emissions are becoming an increasingly larger problem as technologies build up larger industries that require more power and as people buy more and more things to consume that power. these technologies, while they may make us more entertained or more efficient in our daily lives, they come at a cost beyond money. on the opposite side of that, future technologies may very well be able to assist us with this problem, or help to slow it down and control carbon emissions.
i'm not going to pretend im some humble nomad who lives in harmony with the land though, as i sit here and type on a computer in a house with air conditioning on a road in a city full of lights with a car to drive me to work to type on another computer to make money to spend on more stuff! it is somewhat troubling isnt it...
but i dont think there is any turning back from technological advancement now (beside a full on nuclear war to wipe out all infrastructure and set back the surviving humans thousands of years,) but rather creating new technologies that are more renewable or maintable.

what does it mean to apply information technology appropiately?

What is science?
How is it used?

Similarities of Technology and Science?

Differnces of Technology and Science?

Answer
Technology is a product of science. It helps enhance the daily lifestyle of humanity, as it continuously affords commodities to us. It is also helpful in helping advance science. It is used in everything we have in the world. From agricultural practices to computers, technology is the knowledge that we have accumulated to enhance these or make these practices or products.

Science are the facts that surround the world, usually explained with mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. Science is used to investigate what is not yet known to better enhance humanity. Science investigations lead to new technologies and innovations that help solve some of the world's critical problems.

Similiarities: Without science there is no technology as science makes technology

Differences: Science is an inevitable truth. Technology is the application of these facts.

what is the history of information technology?

mark_flame

Wht is HT technology?

what is htt technology in intel p4

This problem can be avoided by improving the scheduler to treat logical processors differently from physical processors; in a sense, this is a limited form of the scheduler changes that are required for NUMA systems.

it all about the technology?

Answer
Technology can be most broadly defined as the material entities created by the application of mental and physical effort to nature in order to achieve some value. In this use, technology is the current state of our knowledge of how to combine resources to produce desired products, to solve problems, fulfill needs, or satisfy wants. Technology in this sense includes technical methods, skills, processes, techniques, tools and raw materials (for example, in such uses as computer technology, construction technology, or medical technology).

Okay all you smarties out there...I have to write a paper for my philosophy of technology class (yes, it's due monday & yes, i'm waiting til the last minute)

The topic is: "What is Technology?"

Here's where you come in, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on what you think technology is! This is such a broad topic, I have no clue where to even begin formulating my ideas.

Will you be so kind and help a stupid guy out?

Answer
Technology is a broad concept that deals with a species' usage and knowledge of tools and crafts, and how it affects a species' ability to control and adapt to its environment However, a strict definition is elusive; "technology" can refer to material objects of use to humanity, such as machines, hardware or utensils, but can also encompass broader themes, including systems, methods of organization, and techniques. The term can either be applied generally or to specific areas: examples include "construction technology", "medical technology", or "state-of-the-art technology".

What are the Components of Information Technology

Answer
Information technology (IT) or Information and communication(s) technology (ICT) is a broad subject concerned with technology and other aspects of managing and processing information, especially in large organizations.

In particular, IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and retrieve information. For that reason, computer professionals are often called IT specialists, and the division of a company or university that deals with software technology is often called the IT department. Other names for the latter are information services (IS) or management information services (MIS).

What is Information Technology Support? ?

ROC-D

Tell me what do u do in the class and it is a college class?
where can u get a job doing that?
what is it?
if u were to get a information technology support job how much will be your hourly wage and salary,benefits,etc...........
DO U RECOMMEND IT?

Answer
Information Technology, or IT, is the use of computers and software to manage information.Sometimes IT is called Management Information Services (or MIS) or simply as Information Services (or IS). In a large company the IT folks would be responsible for storing information, protecting information, processing the information, transmitting the information and later retrieving information as necessary.

In college, it would be a Computer Science IT degree, not a single class.

At the moment, IT is a stable profession, paying about the average engineering salaries, benefits, etc of the average larger company. There are some indications that the future of IT may be less than has been expected, but it is still a fine profession.

If you have a talent for organizing and correlating data in your daily life, and if you like computers, and particularly if you enjoy programming, I would recommend an IT career highly. If you are just curious, I recommend talking a computer and programming course to become more familiar with the overall idea.
